More than forty years have elapsed since the Sto. Niño de Violago Chapel was formally established on October 27, 1979, under the guidance of Carmelite nuns and with the blessing of the late Jaime Cardinal Sin. It was then covered by the Diocese of Cubao, under the Sacred Heart Parish Shrine in Kamuning, Quezon City.
Through the years, it has been a place of worship where countless liturgical celebrations have taken place, accompanying several people in their spiritual journey with the Lord. It has flourished and became a refuge for many devotees of the Child Jesus. Faith and acts of gratitude were manifested in the chapel-goers as they became devotees and volunteers. All this had been made possible by those people who worked and sacrificed hard, wholeheartedly sharing their time, talent and treasure.
A deserving salute should be given to the Violago family for having built the beautiful Chapel; to the Congregacion del Santissimo Nombre del Niño Jesus for its intense promotion of the devotion to the Holy Child and its involvement in several apostolate activities to help enrich people’s spiritual values; to the SVD priests for their significant role in deepening the faith of the people; and to hundreds of people (including those who have joined the Lord) for their tireless and selfless efforts to help the Chapel.
Fast forward to May 6, 2019, a Memorandum of Agreement signed between Mr. Oscar I. Violago and Most Reverend Honesto Ongtioco, DD, paved the way to the impending transition of the Chapel into a quasi-parish under the Diocese of Cubao. Everyone seems to have committed his/her heart to this historical transition, accepting the great challenge of making it a reality.
