The Santuario de San Pedro Bautista in San Francisco del Monte, Quezon City hosted the closing of the Year of the Parish as Communion of Communities, and the opening of the Year of the Clergy and Consecrated Persons in the Diocese of Cubao, last December 2, 2017.
Representatives from the basic ecclesial communities in the diocese started the celebration with a karakol, and a short program to officially close the Year of the Parish. Some members of religious congregations, and members of the clergy, joined the festivities by also dancing the karakol. Bishop Nes gave a short message and said that our work in Church ministries continues even though the Year of the Parish has closed. He emphasized the need for continued support and collaboration between the “Santatlo: the Clergy, the Religious, and the Laity.”
At 9:00 a.m., the “Misa ng Sambayang Pilipino” was officiated by Cubao Bishop Most Reverend Honesto F. Ongtioco, D.D., together with some members of the Cubao clergy, and Franciscan priests from the Order of Friars Minor. An agape followed after the mass.
The 2018 Year of the Clergy and Consecrated Persons is part of the preparation of the Philippine Catholic Church’s elebration of the fifth centenary of Catholicism in the Philippines.
