Cubao diocese establishes Sto. Niño de Violago Quasi Parish

The canonical establishment of Sto. Niño de Violago Quasi-Parish was held last September 9, 2019, with Most Rev. Honesto F. Ongtioco, DD, the Bishop of Cubao as the main presider. In his homily, he thanked all who attended the celebration despite the heavy downpour, “Narito tayo because we love the church, we love the community, we love our priests. If we love, nothing will prevent us in continuing the work of the church.

The bishop also thanked the Society of Divine Word for taking care of the chapel, which was acquired by Mr. Oscar Violago in 1984. He also mentioned the Congregation del Santissimo Nombre del Niño Hesus for developing the chapel befitting into becoming a place of worship.

Our celebration tonight is just a testimony how God is faithful to his promises. Tapat ang Diyos sa kanyang pangako, hindi pababayaan ang kanyang bayan. And yet we need to respond to God’s kindness and generosity,” he added.

As a sort of reminder to the new parish priest in being a good shepherd, he said, “Be a loving father, a gentle shepherd, and a wise teacher."

In the last part of his homily, he briefly explained the rite of installation of the parish priest. The bishop emphasized that the rite is very  catechetical in nature, “Bihira tayo makasaksi ng installation ng parish priest, pero yung movement itself will remind us of something—yung mahalagang paglilingkod ng pari sa ating sambayanan.

A simple fellowship dinner was prepared after the rite.
