Asian Liturgy Forum delegates, challenged to be messengers of the Lord

The Diocese of Cubao welcomed the delegates of the 23rd Asian Liturgy Forum that is held in the Philippines.

On the second day of the conference, the delegates from eight Asian countries including the Philippines visited the Immaculate Conception Cathedral of Cubao, in Lantana St., Cubao, Quezon City.

During the mass presided by Most Rev. Honesto Ongtioco, he emphasized the importance of the Eucharist in the liturgical life of the Church. He said, through the liturgy, the life of the church is continuously being nourished by the life giving power of the Triune God.

"We gather to celebrate the Eucharist for the whole liturgical life of the church revolves around the Eucharistic sacrifice and the Sacraments. The liturgy is the source of the church's life because it is a setting in which the church is created and nourished by the life giving power of the Triune God."

Bishop Ongtioco also challenged the delegates to be messengers of the Lord in a world full of violence, corruption and immorality. He believed that God is working among the faithful, so everyone was asked to live their faith every day.

“Today we are challenged to be messengers of the Lord, there is just too much violence, corruption and immorality, with the Lord there is mercy and hope especially when we do our share. God works in many ways especially through us, we are meant to be his benign and protective presence everywhere, we are asked to live our faith each day.”

The 23rd Asian Liturgy Forum is an annual gathering of priests, nuns, and lay liturgical animators all over Asia. This year’s theme was "Liturgy and Social Communications”. The forum started last September 30, on Pius XII, Catholic Center, UN Manila and will last until Friday, October 4, 2019.
