QUEZON CITY – The Immaculate Conception Cathedral of Cubao tied up with Barangay Immaculate Conception in conducting a 3-day COVID-19 rapid test that started yesterday May 18 up to May 20, 2020.
Barangay Captain Ramon Salas of the Barangay Immaculate Conception thanked the Catholic Church for supporting the efforts of the local government. He said the Cubao Cathedral has been very supportive from the start as it opened its facilities to store the relief goods and in the distribution of the Social Amelioration Program for the residents.
“Talagang collaboration ng simbahan, ng barangay, at ng gobyerno natin, sama-sama dun mo makikita ang tulungan… Kung wala ang simbahan siguro hindi magiging ganito kaayos ang [Barangay] Immaculate kaya nagpapasalamat ako unang-una sa Panginoon at syempre kay Fr. Dennis at sa ating mahal na Obispo.” Salas said over an interview with Cubao Media.
The Diocese of Cubao has long been conducting a program called Ugnayang Barangay at Simbahan (UBAS) even before the pandemic, and this is now visible again, through the Cathedral’s cooperation with the local Barangay.
As of the moment the rapid testing is on-going at the Grotto of the Cathedral. The Barangay Council led by Salas targets a number of 900 residents, of which 550 persons within the vicinity of the Barangay have been tested in the first 2-days.
As of writing, there have been more than 12,000 COVID-19 cases recorded in the country.
