DIOCESE OF CUBAO, SUCCESSFULLY HOSTED ITS FIRST MEDIA CAMP

BULACAN, February 27, 2020 – The Diocese of Cubao Social Communications Ministry successfully hosted its first Media Camp last February 22 to 25, 2020 at the St. John Marie Vianney Retreat House in Bulacan.

18 participants from the parishes under the diocese were divided into three groups and tasked to create a promotional campaign with the theme “Gifted to Give” for the upcoming 500th anniversary of Christianity in the Philippines.

Each group created a poster and a two-minute video that used footage shot from three churches around Bulacan: the La Purisima Conception Parish in Sta. Maria, St. Andrew the Apostle Parish in Norzagaray, and Sta. Monica Parish in Angat.

“Thank You”, “Tutugon?” and “Pamana” are the titles of the three promotional campaigns created by the groups.

“Thank You” is about two children: one from a rich family, longing for the presence of her parents, and one from a poor family, who learned to make a living at a young age. Despite their different status in life, faith, love, and generosity brought them together to become friends.

“Tutugon?” is about a vlogger, but unlike other vloggers who usually showcase food and travels, this vlogger chose to feature the rich history of Christianity in the Philippines.

Lastly, “Pamana” is about a grandmother who taught her grandson about the catholic faith at a very young age. Eventually, this young boy grew up and became a priest.

“Thank You” won the Best Promotional Campaign award for having a simple message and executing a story that young catholic faithful especially the children can imitate.

Fr. Herbert Santos – Director of the Cubao Social Communications Ministry, thanked everyone who helped ensure the success of the four-day training of the participants.

He also expressed his deep gratitude to the Polytechnic University of the Philippines College of Communication headed by Dr. Divina Pasumbal – Dean of the College for sharing their time and expertise to hone the technical skills of the participants.

The priest believes that this great opportunity will be a big help for the parishes and the whole Diocese of Cubao in strengthening the evangelization through social media.
