SANTA RITA DE CASCIA PARISH

A community chapel was envisioned to be built for the homeowners of the Philamlife Village, which was then under the parish of San Pedro Bautista in San Francisco del Monte. Masses were held under the mango tree at No. 26 East Maya Road. The first mass was celebrated on May 15, 1955. It was decided not long after that a church be built, and the cornerstone laid and blessed on August 7, 1955.

On June 2, 1957, the Sta. Rita de Cascia Parish Church was inaugurated and blessed by Rufino Cardinal J. Santos. Fr. Amador Cruz was made acting parish priest. Fr. Pedro N. Bantigue was later designated the first parish priest, and he served up to August 7, 1961. At that time, the ecclesiastical boundary of the parish included Project 6 and 7, Bago Bantay, Pag-asa, Culiat, U.P, Old Balara, Tolosa, North and West Triangle, National Park, West Avenue (including areas of Kanluran, Bulacan and CCC), and Morelos Compound. In time, however, all sub-parishes under Sta. Rita Parish were made parishes.
