Feast of Sts. Philip & James
My dear Brother-Priests and the beloved Faithful of Cubao,
Last April 29, 2018, a priest of the Archdiocese of Tugueguerao, Fr. Mark Ventura, was gunned down after celebrating the Mass.
There are many more victims—poor, helpless and voiceless—who are casualties of man’s inhumanity and violence against his fellowmen.
Together with the Archdiocese of Manila, I asked the Churches in the Diocese of Cubao to toll their Church bells, for nine days, every eight in the evening, from May 6 to May 14.
The tolling of bells asks all of us to remember and pray for the dead. It seeks the conversion of our hearts, especially those who are perpetrators of violence and killing. It reminds us to value justice and love, to value life and its inherent dignity, and to value God who wants all of us to live a full, decent and peaceful life.
May, Mary, Queen of Peace, guide us towards her Son.
