The Eucharistic celebration for First Communicants was held at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral of Cubao on October 28, 2017, and was presided by Cubao Bishop, Most Reverend Honesto F. Ongtioco, D*D*.
186 students from public schools within the ecclesiastical territory of the diocese received for the first time Jesus, Who is truly present in the Holy Eucharist. Catholic Catechism teaches that just as it is necessary to nourish our bodies with food, so also it is necessary to nourish our souls with spiritual food: Jesus, the Bread of Life.
After the Mass, the children attended the Marian Festival for children at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral School gym, in celebration of the 100-year-anniversary of the apparitions in Fatima, Portugal. The children watched an interactive presentation about the story of Fatima, and later had small group sharing. The festival ended with an Act of Consecration to God and to the Blessed Virgin Mary.
