Catholic faithful march for ‘Walk for Life’

QUEZON CITY, Philippines— An estimated number of 4,000 participants, consisting of members of the Catholic lay groups and other religious groups, marched around Quezon City Circle to celebrate human life, February 16.

Started in 2017, the event serves as a call to respect human rights and the condemnation of any action that “destroy the value of life” including abortion, death penalty and extra judicial killings.

Manila Archbishop Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, in his homily, reminded the people of the importance of life saying how he wishes society to be as nurturing as a womb where lives are valued.

“Let our families and other communities that play the role of families to commit themselves to be the nurturing spaces of life especially the life faith, life of decency and life of values”, Tagle said.

Aside from Quezon City, other cities also held ‘Walk for Life’ campaigns simultaneously in Cebu, Tarlac, Dagupan, and in Mindanao.

Furthermore, ‘Walk for Life’ has now been approved as a yearly event to be celebrated every February 16, after its successful consecutive events in 2017 and 2018.
